Beneful dog food comes in dry as well as wet food varieties. It is a pet food brand owned by Nestlé Purina PetCare Company. It is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, United States.
The company promotes the brand as premium dog food containing nourishing ingredients that provide quality nutrition for your four-legged companion. It claims that Beneful dog foods ensure a palatable and balanced diet for dogs.
However, most dog owners consider these products unhealthy for their beloved pets because these formulas include ingredients like corn meal, wheat, soy, etc. that are not suitable for sensitive dogs prone to food allergies.
Moreover, they contain a number of chemical preservatives that can prove harmful for dogs. Certain dog owners have reported allergies and digestive problems in their dogs after switching to Beneful diet, particularly the dry food recipes. In terms of price, though, Beneful dog food is considerably cheap.

Most Popular Beneful Dog Food- Beneful Prepared Meals Beef Stew
This wet dog food meant for growth and maintenance of dogs. It has beef stew along with carrots, peas, rice and barley. Beef is a good source of protein, and carrots are loaded with vitamins and minerals.
Peas, rice and barley are rich in carbohydrates and natural fibers. However, it also contains wheat gluten, corn starch and soy; these ingredients are likely to cause dog allergies.
In addition, it includes meat-by products, which are merely discarded parts of slaughtered animals. Plus, the list of ingredients does not even specify the meat source from where the by-products are derived.
Moreover, it is marketed as a healthy dog food, but it contains artificial colors. Nevertheless, some dog owners maintain that their finicky dogs like this formula after having rejected various other brands.
So overall, this Beneful Prepared Meals Beef Stew gets mixed to negative reviews.
Customer Reviews for Beneful Beef Stew Dog Food
Review by Jaye Faye
Unless my dog gets tired of it, I’m going to continue to feed her different varities of Beneful Prepared Meals. She likes it and I think that it is probably healthy for her. Most times I mix a little cooked barley in with it. She loves her barley and I don’t see how it can be bad for her.
Review by J. Le “Callandor” from San Jose, CA
Just because your dog likes it doesn’t mean it is good for you. I love In and Out burger but I know better then to make a regular diet of it.
Meat by products is high on the ingredient list and is a terrible ingredient. If a manufacturer had nothing to hide, they would list the specific animal that makes up the meat content. Plus, the meat is marked “by-products”, which is throwaway parts unusable for anything else and of the lowest quality in nutrients. Wheat, corn, and soy are also part of the ingredient list and among the worst offenders when it comes to allergies in dogs. They are among the most difficult things for dogs to digest. Please do yourself and your dog a favor by feeding them a higher quality product. Review the ingredient list and doing a little research on ingredients will go a long way towards a longer and healther life for your dog.
